Jess,

I have been a singing teacher for some years now and have found that most
adults can learn to sing pretty well.  There are some for whom it is more of
a difficulty, however,  and they are understandably more inclined to choose
another recreational activity they wouldn't have to work as hard at to
become successful.  I think that most children if given the opportunity and
encouragement and modelling will learn to sing well and in tune, and most
importantly love doing it. Of course there are some who have a vocal
mechanism which is capable of creating more beautiful sounds, much in the
same way as there are those who will be more athletic.
