[HANASHIR:1919] Re: Debbie Friedman's New Album

I've heard a few tracks off of it from the Tara website
(http://www.Jewishmusic.com) via RealAudio. It's hard to make a judgement
having only listened to the stuff once as there are sometimes albums which
I'm not too taken with at first listening which later grow on me quite a
bit.

Also, I'll add this final disclaimer that only 3 tracks were available so I
can't comment on the recording as a whole.

Having laid out all of these disclaimers, I'll say that my first impression
was that the songs were heavily orchestrated giving them a different feel
than I was looking for or used to. Now...'different' doesn't necessarily
mean 'bad' but they sounded a bit overproduced to me...especially the
"Halelu" chant which led as all into Havdalicious fervor two Hava Nashiras
ago, which on this album has this bizarre broadway feel to it with an
insane amount of intrumentation.

Of course I ordered it anyway being the "Deb-head" that I am and I'm sure
it will grow on me.
