Hi folks,
I am glad to be back on the list after a brief hiatus and a change of
e-address.
Just yesterday I accepted the job of director of a new adult volunteer choir
at our temple in addition to a children's choir which I started last Sept.
Our temple has a professional organist and professional choir. The
volunteer choir will be singing at a few selected services and holiday
celebrations. My goal is to provide a more accessible bridge between the
bima and the congregants and am presently recruiting members and collecting
repertoire both from traditional and newer sources.
I would be happy to hear from anyone who would like to share their
experiences as choir directors and suggestions for repertoire for untrained
singers with good ears. You know -- the HITS which have worked well in your
congregation! I would be happy to do the same.
For example, I ordered Steve's book, Ketzev, with that winning, dancey Ein
Keiloheinu and am debut-ing it at our temple this Fri. eve. I can recommend
that one highly.
Thanks.
