My ten cents on liturgy/lyrics.

The Siddur was never meant to be a static entity .... it is an accretion of
poetry and literature gleaned from the hearts of centuries of Jewish poets,
writers, philosophers and artists.  It is alive, it breathes, it moves.
The siddurim of the chassidim, the misnagdim, the conservative movement, the
reconstructionists, Reform, all differ.  The Siddur has been continually
reworked, rearranged and redefined to fulfill the needs of differing
communities.

The very reason that "these words" have stood the test of time is that they
are dynamic ... not static.  May we always find ways to make the Siddur a
living part of each of our lives.
