[HANASHIR:1589] RE: Hava Nashira Recordings

Dear Neal and All:

Here is the story of the Hava Nashira '98 recordings:

I must first offer all of you my most humble apologies for failing you in
this matter.

Despite repeated requests, OSRUI did NOT acquire or make available the DAT
equipment I had asked for to enable me to work on the HN tapes during the
summer at camp. (There was no '97 tape because I also spent the summer at
camp, and because just one year I wanted to enjoy Hava Nashira without
having to worry about recording and schlepping equipment-unfortunately,
newly hired to work at OSRUI that summer-Jerry "assigned" me to videotape
things so I wouldn't have had time to record audio anyway.)

In the ensuing time, with CAJE, my marriage (and family), starting a
Master's program and new position as organist/choir director at Congregation
Micah, I have regrettably neglected this project.

Please understand that I have done this project as a labor of love for not a
few years, initially working together with Rick Mann, who's idea it was in
the first place to do this. My life has changed greatly this year, and I no
longer work in a performing arts facility with access to recording and
editing equipment on a regular basis, and a staff who I could assign,
surreptitiously, to assist me. I didn't realize how difficult it would be
without all that available.

At this point, I see several possibilities. One is that I may be able to
work on the tapes over the winter holidays. Alternatively, if someone else
on the list (Rick Mann, where are you?) is able to assist in the initial
phase of listening to the DAT tapes and editing them down to reproducible
masters and then furnish them to me for duplication and preparation of the
j-cards, mailing, ordering, etc. that might spur things along.

Again my apologies to you all for my error in judgement and failure to
deliver on my promises.

Adrian

Adrian,

Without wanting to sound like a pest, has any progress been made on the
master
recording from Hava Nashira? Is there any timeline for availability?

Neil
