Thank you for bringing music theory onto the list!  An additional trick is to
use lowercase Romans for minor triads.  Going up a major scale, you would then
have the progression:

I, ii, iii, IV, V, vi, vii(d), I

The vii(d) chord is always diminished unless modified to sound less unstable.
