[HANASHIR:1515] Re: Please help!

Those words were adapted to a "folk" melody written for the words "lo yisa goy
el goy cherev". The music (with the hebrew words) can be found on page 57 of
the book "Great Songs of Israel" edited by Velvel Pasternak - Tara
Publications...

I don't know who wrote the words "don't walk in front of me...etc." I've seen
it on greeting cards for many years... nor do I know who decided it should be
sung to the lo yisa goy tune!

And ultimately (we hope) some of the songs we are writing now will end up in
someone's collection with "folk" written at the top! As much as we all would
like credit for our copyrighted work, it's happened to me already at least
once... one of my best friends was recently at an "erev shira" in New York
City where one of the leaders got up and taught a round I had written in 1986
and taught to a relatively small group of people. The woman had no idea who
had written the song AND taught one part incorrectly. When my friend
approached her to say that she had done one part wrong the woman argued that
she was absolutely right! Once music is "released", we really have little
control over what people do with it (unless they try to print or record it)
oops - I digressed... hope my answer helped you!
