Thanks, Judy, for the confirmation.  I think you may be right by bringing
it in a tone on both ends to say that most untrained singers like to sing
from A below middle C up to C to D above middle C. However, I have observed
that with confidence-building and warm-ups it is possible to go farther.  I
should also say that I have had far more experience with child and women
singers.  Any men want to comment on this?
