HI, I am new to the list. I have really enjoyed hearing what people have
to say about music during services. we have no instruments, choir or Cantor
at our synagouge. I live in a small town with about 22 Jewish families and
we sing melodies that have been sung for 30 or 40 years (maybe longer). We
all sing and I really like that. Occasionally when a new Rabbi comes to our
town, he or she will teach us new songs or melodies. I heard Debbie
Friedman for the first time at the cage conference in Bloomington Indiana
in I think 1994. I started buying her tapes and CD's. I love her music and
have tried to teach our small sunday school some of her songs. We have
never had any song leaders, I would like to be one for our congregation.
Are there people out there who travel and do song leading for small groups?
Thanks for all your ideas,
Carol in Indiana
