Angela, Nana, et al--
Not only are Devra and I attending Donny Maseng's performance -- we're
CHAIRPERSONS of the event. (So, how else do you think KC would ever have found
out about Donny's talents?)
The evening begins at 8:45 p.m. at Congregation Beth Shalom, 9400 Wornall Rd.,
KC, MO (95th & Wornall--two major streets in the south part of KC, near State
Line.) We'll start with Havdalah, and then Donny's performance is supposed to
begin at 9:00p.m. Afterwards there's a reception (punch & cookies, but I don't
think they're going to have enough food, from the sound of things), and then
Selichot services at ll:15 p.m. (Yes, I know, it's supposed to begin at
midnight, but apparently this is rabbinic license in an attempt to get more
people to stay for the service.)
Any other Qs? Please e-mail me. We're expecting a big turnout, as 5
congregations are cosponsoring this event -- Reform, Conservative & Orthodox.
Quite a coup in itself. Also, quite a political exercise!
Looking forward to seeing the Columbia contingent on Saturday evening! Also,
any of you St. Louis folks, it's only a 4-hour drive! (Rick the Poet -- I
think it's a bit farther for you to drive from Calif., but I have a nephew who
made the trip from LA to KC in just a day and a half by car. Granted, he may
have been certifiably nuts at the time, but it is possible.)
Love to all,
Linda Salvay
