Re: Could someone please find my voice???

It may not help much -- but for those who were privileged to witness Flip
Frisch teach an entire song without uttering a single note, such "novelties"
might be worth trying here and there. (I know it doesn't solve the problem
long-term, but may give you a chance to rest your voice for an extra few
minutes.) Flip, who came to HN with a tinge of laryngitis, was able to teach a
whole song using sign language and demonstrating the proper sequence of notes
through hand motions. It was amazing to watch, and we all picked it up right
away-- and the "silence" of her presentation was a sure attention getter.
Might just work with a roomful of campers too!

I'm commiserating with all you voiceless folks -- I'm still a bit hoarse as
well, still not able to reach my full singing range, and having a tough time
with breath control. Fortunately, I have no major singing responsibilities
coming up for another few weeks, so I expect I'll recuperate in time. My
sympathies to all you camp songleaders who have to be "on" for the rest of the
summer! I wonder how Debbie Friedman does it, belting out the music as she
does....? Time for all of us to consider voice coaching, perhaps.

Be well, and don't talk unless you have to! (Singing, of course, is a
necessity!)

Love to all,

Linda
