Re: To Mini-HN or not to Mini-HN

I'm interested to hear everyone's take on the idea of "mini-HNs". Trying to be
realistic, I don't think we're running any risk of minimizing the amazing
spiritual chemistry of Hava Nashira by trying to have regional songleaders'
workshops. HN works because of the people who are there -- faculty as well as
attendees. On a local or regional level, you're going to get a different mix,
and a different outcome. Not better, not worse -- just different, I think.

But that doesn't obviate the need to do things like this on a regional basis.
What about all those songleaders/music specialists/etc. who never had the
chance to attend HN -- or who may never have even heard of it? They deserve
the opportunity to learn and share with their musical peers ? as do all of us,
and more than just once a year.

My suggestion wasn't meant to usurp the tremendous attraction of HN (not that
that's even possible)-- but rather to help us follow through with the
"mission" we've all been given, if I've understood it correctly. It's a
natural extension of bringing Jewish music to Jewish life -- and it begins by
sharing it with our own peers -- whether they've ever attended HN or not.
