As with anything else, it is a matter of price.  Cheaper portable systems have
a tinny sound.  The more expensive ones sound as good as larger, plug-in
speaker systems, and can even have a lavalier (portable clip-on or cordless)
microphone.  But since I am not Elton John, I couldn't afford one of those!
