If I am the only one on the list with this opinion, then I will be happy to
defer to the greater will, and let the list go whichever way that it wants.
However I feel the desire to get my "two shekels" in as well, and I'd be
curious if anyone else shares my feelings. To wit:
I am a member of this list because I am interested in learning what other
people are up to vis a vis music in the synagogue and school. I am curious
about tunes and techniques which have been successful, ideas for different
age groups, concepts which people are trying out etc.
Recently there has been a flood of messages to this list, but the majority
of them strike me as more or less "chat line" material. Now it becomes a
more time consuming process to go through the mail, reading this one's
pithy comments, that one's feminist outrage, this one's relationship with
her daughter, that one's personal comments to a whole host of fellow list
members.
If I could make one request, it would be for members to demonstrate a
little self-censorship by emailing directly to a specific person when
appropriate, and letting the list serve an educational rather than "cyber
social" function. Am I alone in this opinion?
Best,
Rich
