Intro: Karen Daniel

Hi, I'm Karen Daniel, and I'm a Jewish musi-holic!

I live in Nashville, Tennessee, and I've been a singer/songwriter (country,
pop) for many years, but have just started writing Jewish songs.  Along with
the songwriting has come a renewed sense of my Jewish spirituality, identity,
and lifestyle.  Since going to CAJE (for the first time) last August, I have
written about 2 dozen Jewish songs, about such topics such as peace,
spirituality, pluralism, and love, and have just recorded my first album,
"Breaking the Lock," which will be released this April.  

I also teach 6th grade in the religious school at Temple Ohabai Sholom.  I
occasionally sing for my students, but more often for the younger children in
the school.  Except for those participating in the youth choir, there is
little music in our curriculum for the older students.

I look forward to participating in this online discussion and hope to get to
know many of you.
