I have written a one-hour-long dramatization of the Book of Jonah titled
"The Journey of Jonah" designed to be performed by young people and/or
teenagers for a Jewish or a general audience. At least one JCC staff
member is interested in producing it, but it needs MUSIC. The play
begins with "Hine Ma Tov," but I'm not committed to using it. I have
written words to some songs--a song for the sailors (who eventually are
forced to throw Jonah overboard), Jonah's song when he is thrown onto the
beach, which is reprised when he begins to love the plant, a lively
almost-patter song for the people in the marketplace of
Nineveh, for example. If there is any composer and/or folk singer who
would like to work on the music with me with an eye to a future
production, please contact me at mdamato (at) lynx(dot)neu(dot)edu(dot) Thanks.
