RE Holocaust-related folk music, I would recommend the following two
collections:
Yes, We Sang! Songs of the Ghettos and Concentration Camps, by Shoshana
Kalisch. Harper & Row, 1985.
Songs of the Holocaust: We are Here; compiled by Eleanor Mlotek adn
Malke Gottlieb, published by the Ed. Dept. of the Workmen's Circle, 1983.
(bi-lingual English/Yiddish)
Also, see Ruth Rubin's book "Voices of a People: The Story of Yiddish
Folksong" (JPS, 1979) which has a chapter on folk songs of the Shoah
era.
A few years ago, a recording came out of classical music that had been
composed and performed at Terezin - maybe someone else has the title.
