[HANASHIR:16909] RE: HELP! NEED A JEWISH MUSICAL

Dear Yonah,

I don't know if what I'm about to sugggest is practical for you, but it may
be able to be adapted.

If it could be transposed to an American situation it would be an incredible
winner, as it has everything - great music, humour, adaptability for all
kinds of cast ranges.

There is a musical mainly aimed at school productions written by the very
talented Phil and Susie Davies-Splitter of Two-Up Music in Melbourne.

It's called "Down Under in Australia" but it's a morality tale about good
and bad, kids and school, multiculturalism (pluralism) and if I remember
correctly, includes a part for a student in a wheelchair. (either abled or
disabled)

It's one of those shows that everyone keeps saying here should be done by
every school.

This is their website as a way to reach them
http://www.twoupmusic.com/

and their email is info (at) twoupmusic(dot)com (found on the site)

It really covers everything you've asked for in the email below.

Subject: [HANASHIR:16893] HELP! NEED A JEWISH MUSICAL

The original play we have for our yearly intergeneral production isn't
working and I'm in a bind. I need suggestions of Jewish Musicals that would
work for a larger cast with varying ages... either original or well known.
Along with a good, solid story and good music, it should somehow teach some
kind of value or lesson. But more importantly, should be entertaining and
fun for the cast to do.

I've thought of the obvious -- Fiddler/Joseph/Yentl. Does anyone have an
original musical they've used they'd like to share? Our budget is
relatively limited.

Thanks!
