HNites!
Friday evening, February 27, 7:30 pm -- ROCK SHABBAT! in Worcester, MA:
I would like to personally invite all Hanashir list members from Boston,
MA to Hartford, CT from Providence, RI to Manchester, NH to my synagogue
next Friday evening for a very special Shabbat service All of these
cities are about an hour from Worcester - and I think it will be worth
the drive.
My synagogue, Temple Emanuel in Worcester, MA, is culminating its
celebration of Jewish Music Month with its inaugural ROCK SHABBAT! (or
as I like to call it, "Shabbat Plugged") on Friday evening, February 27
at 7:30 pm, complete with a full rock band lead by yours truly.
Featuring our phenomenal cantor, Cantor Sally Neff (the hippest young
cantor in all of New England), the service will include the best of NFTY
music by today's most well-known Jewish recording artists. Original
compositions by band members will also be featured, and these tunes are
beginning to be widely used by URJ camps and congregations across the
country.
Fellow HNites and Temple Emanuel members Peter & Ellen Allard (who will
also be leading a Family Shabbat Service at the Temple this Friday
evening) will also be taking part in this service, and Eric Komar is
coming from New York just to be part of this amazing ensemble of
musicians. Other list members participating in this special service
include my wife Beth Meltzer . . . and possibly some other special HN
guests (hmm . . . ).
If you happen to be visiting New England next weekend, you are welcome
as well. Directions to Temple Emanuel can be found at
http://www.temple-emanuel.org/announcements/TEDirections.html. For more
information, visit ROCK SHABBAT! on the web at
http://www.meltzerworld.net/rockshabbat (complete with a sound clip), or
contact either Steve Meltzer at (508) 579-8433, or Cantor Sally Neff at
(508) 791-8414, ext. 22
It would be great see many of you at this inaugural ROCK SHABBAT! Don't
be a stranger . . . give me a call and let me know you're coming.
Peter, Ellen, Eric, Beth and I would love to see (and meet) you!
Take care . . . l'hitraot . . . Shabbat Shalom!
B'shalom,
Steve Meltzer
