[HANASHIR:16836] A New Old Purim Song

I've always liked the melody, the chorus and the teach-ability of "Wicked,
Wicked Man" but I always found most of the verses unteachable, antiquated, or
just plain bad. I don't know if anyone else has done this, but I took the
liberty of writing some new verses to it. You'll find it below. I'd be
interested in seeing other, contemporary alternate verses if you have or know
of any. Or take this one and run with it -- I'm all for what Pete Seeger terms
"the folk process."
Thanks,

Wicked, Wicked Man
Once there was a wicked, wicked man
And Haman was his name, sir
He lied and lied about the Jews
Though we were not to blame, sir
CHORUS:
Oh, today we?ll merry, merry be (3x)
And nosh some hamentashen
Ahashverosh said ?Vashti, dance!
You know the dance I mean, dear.?
When Vashti wouldn?t dance he said
?You are no longer queen here!?
The king said ?Now I need a queen.
That is what I do wish.?
And Mordechai?s sweet cousin was
Beautiful but Jewish
Mordechai told Esther to
Submit an application
To become the king?s new queen
And rule the Persian nation
Esther?s beauty won the day
But her mind was very clever
And we still sing of Esther now
Her bravery lasts forever
And what became of Haman then?
He was ordered out of town
But the king said yes when Haman asked
?Can I just hang around??

I was always bothered by the lack of upbeat, teachable Hebrew melodies for
Purim so while in Israel wrote this:
Chorus
Mi zot/zeh, mi zot/zeh ba'ah
Mi zot/ zeh ba'ah min hamegilla ( 2 X)
Chorus
Vashti, Vashti, ha'grusha
Vashti Ba'ah min ha'megilla
Vashti ha'grusha bah min ha'megilla
Chorus
Melech Ahashverosh bah
Ahashverosh bah min hamegillah
Melech Ahashverosh bah, bah min ha'megilla
Chorus
Esther , Esther ha- yafa
Esther ba'ah min ha'megilla
Esther malka yafa , bah min ha'megilla
Chorus
Mordechai ha'neshama
Mordechai bah min ha megilla
Mordechai ha'neshma, bah min hamegilla
Haman hu ish rah
Haman ba min ha-megilla
Haman hu ish rah
Bah min hamegilla.
contact me if you would like the melody.
