Dear Meris,
At CAJE, 2002 in TX there was an incredible group of 4 ladies from the
Austin area called Divahn (a word common to Hebrew, Persian and Arabic
and means a collection of songs or poetry). If I remember correctly the
lead singer, Galeet Dardashti's grandparents were from Iran. The music
is from Iran, Iraq, Israel, Turkey. Styles: Mizrakhi, Ladino with very
eclectic instruments. Not sure if this is what you are looking for but
very intersting and well done.
