[HANASHIR:16545] Re: Keyboard advice

I think shopping for keyboards is a very personal mission. How
accomplished a pianist/musician are you? What are your goals? What do
you need to do? DO YOU NEED TO SHLEP THIS THING around from gig to gig?
I bought a Korg Work Station about 2 years ago - fabulous instrument.
But the older I get, the heavier it gets to shlep around. However, I
insisted on weighted keys. It's really quite a tricky matter. Go play
on several in different stores and don't rush into your final decision!
Ask people who have them what they do and DON'T like about them. Good
luck and have fun! Also - if you have a very sensitive ear, listen to
all the piano sounds -- I still haven't found one that is perfect.
Hmmmmmm.....

I just purchased a Korg Stage Piano for my choral music class. It is
also a full 88-key, weighted keyboard with built-in speakers. I
tried the Yamaha and liked the sound and feel of the Korg better.

I had to purchase separate speakers so that the choir could hear the
sound, though, because the built-ins face up, towards me. (Also, I
don't have my own room, so I have to be a nomad before and after
every class.) If your congregation has a decent sound system you can
plug the keyboard in to, there shouldn't be any need for external
speakers, amp, mixer, etc.

Best of luck,
