Dear Joe,
What a wonderful and moving message.
What touched you is the core of why all of us are here.
Each individual on this list is involved in a different aspect of Jewish
musical life - some of us from far-flung corners of the globe.
The joy that each of us gets from doing what we do is absolutely magnified
by being able to share it with like-minded people on this list, who have an
interest, love and passion for Jewish music.
Imagine how I feel as the publisher of a website where people from all over
the world send in words to their favourite Hebrew songs - translated into
English, and sometimes translated into Spanish and Portugese! I never know
when I go to my inbox if there will be something from Brazil or Holland or
Spain or California!
So enjoy your grandson, and may there be many more Hebrew songs coming from
his bath.

I have been a lurker on haNashir for several months now. I subscribed
because of a life-long interest in and involvement with music and a more
recent interest in synagogue music. All of the foregoing, on an adult level.
I have followed the various threads with varying degrees of interest and
diligence but, dinosaurs and other beasties are of little interest to me
either musically or Jewishly. I am a long way from unsubscribing but I scan
each posting with minimal thought about many of them.
All of this changed, however, this past week. My wife and I were sitting for
our 2 1/2 year old grandson who is a recent enrollee in the pre-school of
his local Reform congregation. Frankly, I was touched to a degree I wouldn't
have thought possible to hear him in his bath singing "Shalom Chaverim" and
"S'vivon." It took a bit of creative listening to discern the familiar words
and melodies. When my wife and I realized what was coming from his little
voice we were close to tears.
It made me realize what an important role all of the haNashir list members
and their colleagues play in the creation of a true Jewish neshumah in our
newest Jews.
Thanks to all of you for your efforts. May you go from strength.
