[HANASHIR:16460] Inclusiveness and Getting Together

I have to agree with both Fran and Joy. As a parent who has been involved
with Jewish music informally over the years (camp songleader, Sunday school
teacher, songwriter and occasional performer), my greatest joy is taking
part in singing, writing, and performing with other Jewish musicians. It's
the main reason I went to Hava Nashira last year and plan to attend for as
many years as I am able.

However, I have a full-time job that has nothing to do with Jewish music,
and am not able to travel to conferences or visit other locations where
Jewish musicians might congregate.

Like Joy, I would like to create a venue where Jewish
singers/songwriters/performers could come together and share their thoughts
and melodies, develop harmonies and friendships, and discover new ways to
sing old songs. I live in the north suburbs of Chicago - and I am sure
there must be other people in the area who might also be interested in
creating and participating in this kind of opportunity.

I would be interested in learning what other communities do to informally
bring Jewish musicians, singers and songwriters together, and what (if
anything) currently exists in the Chicago area. I would also be willing to
coordinate something locally, if enough people are interested.

Please feel free to e-mail me privately at tufriend (at) apacmail(dot)com (note
my
e-mail has changed from the Hava Nashira list as I have changed jobs).

B'shalom,
Tracy
