Dear All,

Thank you, all of you, for your very kind words and prayers. I sent
them, on wings, to my mom as she lived her last days at the hospice in
Florida, passing away this past Sunday, Dec. 28th. It is truly the
saddest time in my life....I am heartbroken with her passing. 

My three sisters urged me to sing at the funeral, despite the difficulty
they knew it presented. After five other family members spoke, I
concluded the service by talking about mom's last days and the peace
that seemed to come over her at the end of her life. I then asked
everyone at the service to do something unconventional for a funeral. I
asked them to think outside of the box, mostly because along with my
sisters, I knew it would've been something my mom would've loved, having
been surrounded by music her whole life. I asked everyone to sing a song
as a final tribute to her. Though I trembled as we sang it, it was the
most heartfelt and beautiful way for us to honor her and celebrate her
life.

We sat shivah in Florida, at one of my sister's houses. But when we
returned to Worcester yesterday, my local friends reached out and asked
if they could join us to sit shivah here in our home town. We will be
sitting tomorrow at a friend's house from 5 - 8 PM. If anyone in the
central Massachusetts area wants to join us, we would most welcome your
company.

I know this has fallen outside the usual purpose of this list, and I
humbly ask for your indulgence. It is a tender time for me, and reaching
out to my hanashir family has helped me. I traveled to Florida with
printouts of the lovely messages you emailed to me, and it truly was a
comfort. If you want to email me in response, please feel free to do so
