Shalom Rachelle,

I am a student in the Music for Healing and Transition Program 
(www.mhtp.org). We are trained to play live therapeutic music in all kinds 
of settings for all sorts of people (ill, in crisis, and/or in need, as 
well as alternative healing environments). The program is NOT religious and 
in fact, encourages us to become familiar with all cultures/religions , or 
at least as many as we have in our surrounding population where we live, so 
that when we are called to play music for the varied kinds of people we 
are, we will be able to be helpful to them. Additionally, I have a special 
interest myself in Jewish healing and do have a collection of songs I am 
using for Jewish patients, if they so desire/request. I have also used this 
repertoire for non-Jews, but I do NOT sing the lyric when doing so.

There is quite a lot one should know about playing music for patients. It 
is very different from conducting a healing service and one ought to be 
trained in both. I highly recommend you look into the MHTP program, and if 
you are serious about continuing in this field, take the initiative to 
enroll in the program, or one like it, and go and learn about this amazing 
work.
