[HANASHIR:16036] re: Havdalah Bat Mitzvah

The answer to all of your questions is YES! If you want to do it 'right'
you'll have to do some study and if possible find a minyan where you can
experience a Shabbat Mincha service. Also, even if you will be using a Reform
prayer book, do some study in a more traditional siddur such as Artscroll which
has explanations of many of the traditions.

Actually, Havdallah happens later. Not part of the Mincha Service although you
might add it on at the end depending on timing and traditions at that place.

There is special Shabbat Mincha nusach for which I have notation if you are
having trouble finding it.

Torah service music is the same but is much abbreviated. Again, check the
prayer book you will be using.

  Subject: [HANASHIR:16022] Havdalah Bat Mitzvah

  Hello List,

I was asked to lead music for a Saturday evening Havdalah Bat Mitzvah, which
I've never done or even attended before, and I'm looking for suggestions. I'm
assuming that the Havdalah Bruchot and Eliyahu Hanavi will be part of the
service, but I'm not sure what else to expect (or suggest).

Are there any protocols or standards for Bar/Bat Mitzvahs which occur on
Saturday evenings? Are Barechu, Shema/V'ahavta, Maariv Aravim, Ahavat O'lam,
MiChamocha, V'shamru, Yismechu, Shalom Rav, Mi Sheberach, and Avot/G'ruot part
of these services? I know there will be a Torah service... are there any
differences in a Havdalah Torach service?

Thanks in advance for your advice.
