[HANASHIR:16024] Re: Havdalah Bat Mitzvah

Scott:
If there is to be a torah reading, I would presume they are doing
mincha and concluding the service with Havdala (otherwise there is no
context for a torah reading). The mincha (afternoon) service is rather
abbreviated (it has no Shema, for example); it typically includes
Ashrei, Hatzi Kaddish, Avot/Gvurot and Kedusha, and the rest of the 7
blessings included in the shabbat Tefila, ending with Shalom Rav (not
Sim Shalom). Then Oseh Shalom or Yihiyu l'ratzon, and straight to the
Torah service, which would be the same service used on Shabbat morning.
The service can be found in the older Gates of Prayer (fat blue
version) around p.550 or so; it is also in the "Gates of Grey" toward
the back.
Hope this is helpful. Do feel free to call on me if I can be of
assistance with melodies, etc.!
warm regards,
robin sparr-rothman
