A few days after Hurricane Isabel swept across the DC area, we were besieged

by a heavy rainstorm... during which, feeling more than adequately soaked, I

wrote the following Noah song.

I gave a copy of the sheet music to Robin Selinger yesterday at a
songsharing session and, given the recent request for Noah songs, am hoping
there's a way she'll be able to post it on her website.

In the meantime, here are the lyrics. I figure having them in an email (as
well as on the sheet music) will make it easier for songleaders to create a
songsheet for their students.

I expect that middle elementary students will want to sing all 4 verses as
well as the refrain. Early elementary and older preschoolers can be taught
the refrain with hand motions for small, tall, wide, thin, rain, wash away,
and sunny day.. The youngest preschoolers (I teach plenty of 2-year olds
who don't yet talk or sing) will be able to do the hand motions,
particularly if you slow down this otherwise fast-paced song.

Noah, Oh Noah

Noah, oh Noah, lots of rain is on its way.
'Gonna rain and pour forty nights, forty days.
Noah, oh Noah, you must hammer all day long.
Build an ark of wood, make it big, make it strong.

REFRAIN:
Yes, dear Noah, help the animals go in.
Take in small, take in tall, take in wide, take in thin.
Rain's gonna come to wash the evil all away
And we'll get a brand new start on a bright, sunny day.

Two kitty cats will come a-purring along.
Two cheerful bluebirds will come singing a song.
Two little mice will whisper, "Squeak, squeak, squeak."
Two green frogs will jump right out of the creek.
REFRAIN

Two speedy tigers will come leaping inside.
Two tall giraffes will come a-hitching a ride.
Two hippopotami will stomp right aboard.
Creatures all will come at the command of the Lord.
REFRAIN

Rain's gonna stop and then the sunshine we'll see
And God'll make a rainbow for you and for me.
It will be a promise that forever and a day,
God's love will shine on us and with us will stay.
REFRAIN
