Yes, that's true, antibiotics don't do anything for viral infections.  But, 
they will stop bacterial infections and secondary infections which sometimes 
compound the problem.  I've become pretty good at feeling when they will help 
and when they won't...

  best treatment for laryngitis is complete vocal rest.
  Stay away from prednisone. And antibiotics are, of
  course, useless for viral infections.
