[HANASHIR:15467] One possibility re choir commitment



Re the statement below, I'm afraid that's true. We have several good,
experienced singers who will not sing with us because of the tediousness of
waiting for the rote learners to catch up. It's such a dilemma, because I'd
LOVE those people to join us, but when I was in the choir I felt the same
way.

I'm thinking of having something like a "festival choir", in which I'd ask
such people to join us for, say, 3 rehearsals for very special occasions. I
have to poll the choir about their feelings about it, although we do  have
an in-house "ringer" or two and they seem ok with it. Interestingly, btw,
the 1 or 2 people who complain of anything smacking of such "elitism" are
the ones who cannot sing at all. Strange...

Sorry I keep posting. Can't you tell I'm stuck at home with this cold?
