[HANASHIR:15305] Re: Simple children's choir suggestions

You'll probably be able to do some Chanukah rounds, even with a small-sized
children's choir. The kids will find them fun to sing and everyone will
enjoy listening -- or have the kids lead sections of the congregation in
singing each of the parts.

There's the 3-part round, "Chanukah Catch" ("Candles burning all night
long..."). Not sure if this is copyrighted or if there's published sheet
music for it. Maybe someone else knows. If there isn't, I could give you
the sheet music I wrote out for my own youth choirs' use.

Also, I've got a very simple 8-measure, 2-part round, "Come See The
Candles," that's being published in Transcontinental's new "The Complete
Chanukah Songbook," which I heard is due out very soon.

You can hear a children's choir singing it -- but with Shabbat lyrics -- at
amazon.com. Search for my name or "Family Shabbat."

The Chanukah lyrics are:

Part A:
My chanukiah glows with light
As flames of freedom fill the night.
It's message for the world to see
Is that all people should be free.

Part B:
Come see the candles burning bright,
For it is Chanukah tonight. (2X)

It's not hard to figure out the notes from the sound sample. But if you
want the sheet music, please contact me and I'd be happy to get it to you.

Subject: [HANASHIR:15304] Simple children's choir suggestions
Date: Mon, 8 Sep 2003 18:55:09 -0700 (PDT)

I am in the process of forming a children's choir of 3rd to 7th graders. I
think that there will be about ten children (possibly more). I would like
the group to sing some songs at the Chanukah Family Service, if not sooner.
Does anyone have any suggestions for material? I have a few ideas, but would
welcome your input. Thanks-
