[HANASHIR:14989] RE: Notes from the Underground

Chevrei --

Maybe I'm a little biased about "Notes From The Underground" because I have
a guest appearance on "Lo Yisa Goi" (acoustic guitar & backing vocals), but
I'd like to give my unsolicited opinion . . .

This album (yes, I am dating myself) is amazing! From the impassioned
power-ballad "Lo Yisa Goi" to the cool jazz stylings of "Don't Give Up
Hope", Eric transitions from one musical genre to another seemingly without
missing a beat ;-). There is something about each song which is truly
unique in both a spiritual and musical way -- and sometime both are the
same. Some personal favorites include the spirited celebration of
"Shehecheyanu" (perfect for weddings!), the raw stadium-rock energy of "Utsu
Etsa", the sweetness of the accordion(!)-tinged "R'tzei", the feel-good
acoustic-rock "Ma'ariv Aravim", and the Steely Dan-meets-George Benson
funkified "Millennium Man" are just to name a few -- but they are all
special in their own unique way.

I had the privilege of hosting Eric (and his wife Dalia) a few times while
he was here in the Boston area recording the CD with Josh. It was an honor
to observe these two talented individuals creating some of the best music --
Jewish or otherwise -- that I have heard in a long time.

"Notes From The Underground" is great to listen to either while cruising in
the car or while kicking back and mellowing out on the sofa. There are songs
for use in services and songs for teaching in Religious School. The CD
reaches out to the listener in many different ways -- there is something for
everybody. Eric's musical versatility and warm, inviting spirit makes these
songs accessible for anyone who hears them.

Sorry to go on for so long . . . I just think you'll like it. Look forward
to seeing many of you in Columbus -- 2 weeks (or less) and counting!

  Chevrei,

If you'll indulge me in a shameless plug ...

I am excited to announce the release of my first Jewish CD, "Notes from
the Underground". It was produced by Josh Nelson of Yom Hadash, who, I must
say after working with him these few months, is a musical and engineering
genius!

The CD has 10 songs, including "Lo Yisa Goi", which many of you know. (It
was also just published with a collection of incredible music in
Transcontinental's new "Shabbat Anthology".) The album also contains the
instrumental "Don't Give Up the Hope" that some of you heard at HN'03. Visit
my website to hear some tracks. (*** If the first page takes too long to
load up because of a sound file, please write me privately and I'll edit
this page).

The CD will be sold for $15 and should be available at CAJE. Mail orders
through me are available as well - contact me privately. A portion of
proceeds goes to the Armed Forces Family Scholarship & Assistance Fund.
AFFSAF is a truly worthy organization that provides scholarships for the
children whose parents have lost their lives while defending our country. It
is run completely by volunteers; 100% of donations go toward the
scholarships.

Thanks! Looking forward to seeing many of you at CAJE - EK
