[HANASHIR:14950] songleading Job in MA

Hi all....my friend asked me to pass this information along. This is an
amazing and special congregation and I hope that one of you will be able to
take this job!!

Song Leader Position:
Our small GLBT Congregation is looking for songleaders for our
bi-monthly Friday evening services.

We would like 2 leaders:
. 1 primarily for the contemporary service, the first Friday of the
month. This service is more flexible and would suit people familiar with newer
melodies, styles, and possibly instrumental capabilities such as guitar
playing
. 1 primarily for our traditional service, Third Friday of the
month.Traditional services are primarily in Hebrew and would benefit from a
strong knowledge of traditional melodies
You would be primarily responsible for one or the other, but ideally would be
able to do either effectively, if necessary.

It would require 1 or 2 phone meetings with the service leader prior to the
monthly service to coordinate song choices and melodies.

The position would pay a $40-50 honorarium, per service

ABOUT US:
Am Tikva-"People of Hope"-has been serving the Greater Boston community since
1976, creating an open and welcoming environment where gay,
lesbian, bisexual and transgendered Jews of all ages and degrees of religious
observance can meet to explore their common heritage and enjoy the company of
fellow Jews. Am Tikva welcomes non-Jewish partners and friends as well
as straight friends and family to all services. Over the last 3 decades, our
intimate services have offered an exciting laboratory for combining many
diverse Jewish traditions and viewpoints. This past April, after 27
years, our organization voted to become a full Congregation.

SERVICES:
Am Tikva holds Shabbat services on the first and third Friday of every month.
The first is a contemporary service incorporating readings from numerous
present-day sources. Conversely, the service held the third is more
traditional, sticking more closely to the time-honored texts. To
be inclusive and accessible to all people, Am Tikva uses an egalitarian
liturgy. Women and men share the religious (and administrative)leadershipof Am
Tikva. Although guest rabbis join us occasionally, members lead AmTikva for
most services and activities. Those who would like to read or sing a part in
Hebrew or English are often invited to come early and
speak to that evening's service leader. Services conclude with a Kiddush, oneg
and schmoozing

TIME/LOCATION:
All services are held at the Temple Sinai Auditorium, 50 Sewall Avenue in
Brookline's Coolidge Corner, and begin at 8 p.m. We are accessible by the Green
Line on public transportation. The building is wheelchair-accessible. If you
are interested and would like to learn more please contact Meredith
Gonzalez at GavisIma (at) hotmail(dot)com or call me during the day at
617-469-5617.

If you are not interested, but no someone else who may be suitable please feel
free to pass this information along to them.

Thank you
