[HANASHIR:14873] RE: Cd's

Simply put-YES, you do need permission, if the song is still protected by
copyright. And, Jewishly, you need to at least make the effort to try and
get it, although you may not succeed on every tune.

Pay a visit to http://www.cmpamusic.org/html/main.isx?sub=5 and

http://www.jlaw.com/Articles/copyright1.html

And I once again renew my call for us to create a Jewish Music clearinghouse
similar to the one operated by the Church Music Publishers Assn.

Subject: [HANASHIR:14868] Cd's

Hi all---I'm a camp songleader and have a question that I think other
people might be interested in, too.

We're making a CD of camp songs that the kids are recording----

If we are NOT doing this for a profit, do I still need to secure
permission to record other people's songs?

Thanks a lot
