Hi all. I am new to this listserv, HN, etc, and I am enjoying the
discussions thoroughly.
My question:
I am going to be working with a congregation this year, leading various music
efforts for them. My title will be music director, I believe. My
responsibilities will include leading (songleader and liturgy leader [no
rabbi]) for 8
family Shabbat morning services, leading a teen choir (3 performances per
year), songleading for High Holiday children's worship, forming/rehearsing a
band
to provide music for worship once per month on Friday night, and have music
sessions for grades 3-7 on 8 occassions throughout the year. They have a
regular cantorial soloist, for whom I substitute, and they have a music teacher
for
grades k-2.
Is this typical of what music directors in other synagogues do?
What is a normal pay range (or hourly rate) for this type of position?
I would really appreciate the input if anyone is willing to share
information. I didn't see all of the discussion from Beth Harmon's posting. I
guess
this in a similar vein.
Thank you so much!
