PART ONE
As a Canadian who has never worked in the U.S., what documents do I
need in order to do this? I'm not talking about a green card, for
long-term use, but about permission to come across the border and do a
gig or two.
... there may be something coming up for me in November!, which may
seem like a long time away, but government papers can take a long time
to obtain. Especially with the new security issues.
I heard somewhere that no paperwork is required within a certain (very
limited) radius of the border, but farther away than that I have to
document that I have some sort of unique or different presentation,
i.e. that I'm not taking away work from a Local Person who could do it
just as well. Does anyone know the details on this?
Also, what goverment agency do I contact about this?
And ... are there certain "code words" or phrases that I should use on
the form, to increase the chances I will get accepted?
PART TWO
As a Canadian who has been making many American music friends, what
documents do they need if they wish to come to _my_ town & play here?
And what govt agency do I contact for the details?
You can reply to the list, or to me offline at
roslynschwartz (at) sympatico(dot)ca . Thanks muchly for any direction you can
give.
