[HANASHIR:14611] Re: 60s Folk Music (and 50's too)

I have never participated in discussions on the website, but felt obligated
to comment on the discussion about folk music. Every year at Nava Nashira,
I've jammed with a group of people (usually a different group each year)
with songs from the 50', 60's, and 70's. There is so much joy in singing
such great songs and sharing experiences with others. From a personal
perspective, I believe that it is our obligation to pass these songs to the
next generation, so these traditions never die. After all, isn't that what
folk music is all about. In this vein, I'd like to suggest that we include
a session on 60's folk music at the next Hava Nashira as one of the
organized "special interest" activities, since opportunities to share these
songs with the kind of talent assembled are rare on "the outside."
