TOTALLY. I welcome suggestions and ideas, and will be happy to share what I
did in my first year as a music specialist for a synagogue religious school.
Obviously, curriculum will depand on when and for how long you see your
students. I see groups of 25 to 45 students (usually two grades lumped
together)
for about twenty minutes per group each week. I see them most often in a small
chapel in the school building, with seats that are bolted down. Needless to
say, this is manageable for the older kids (with whom I use either an overhead
or
lyric sheets, beacuse they LIKE to read the words to songs as they learn);
but for the little ones I often take over the larger multi-use room across the
hall so we can do some movement.
I want to incorporate rhythm instruments into my work with the younger kids
(graders K-1-2), but don't have enough for groups of so many at once.
Suggestions on songs and techniques?
Thanks --Beth Hamon
