One more poem dedicated to Hava Na Shira 2003
Thank you all for a truely spectacular experience...
AND KEEP IT HOLY
After a long hard day
G-d walked slowly home.
He shuffled His feet
with a hint of weariness and frustration,
and entered the Gates of Heaven
with barely a nod to the Gatekeeper.
Home at last,
off went the shoes
as He put on His Cubs hat
and poured a glass of schnapps.
It had been another long
and difficult day…
Too many fires to put out.
The dance of anger
was strong these days.
G-d called out
to the Shechinah,
"I'm going to close
my eyes for just a bit."
G-d's vision…
T'was Erev Shabbat
and in the great camp hall
No one was sleeping.
NO ONE AT ALL.
Shabbat Shira
lasted all through the night.
The singing and ruach
was a joyful flight.
Music and dancing
filled up their souls.
Harmonies and rhythms
let loose without controls.
Ribbons of music floated
up through the air.
And although they were all getting sleepy
No one seemed to care.
The voices, like angels
carried the refrains to new highs.
And spirits soared
as the music was sanctified
Through the mist and up to Heaven the music at last
reached G-d.
A smile slowly spread
across His face.
And when the music finally faded,
it was late into the night
and G-d nodded in contentment.
He slowly sipped His schnapps,
and then folded His hands across his chest.
And G-d heard the music
and it was good
and He rested on the Seventh Day.
