I have checked into the history of the Canadian anthem (see below), and the 
only words I see are:

"true patriot's love in all thy sons command..."

I attended school in Montreal in the 60's, and that's how I sang it....of 
course, the other part of that story, is that we had to sing hymns every 
morning 
in school, and I never did understand the part about onward soldiers, nor of 
standing on guard, for that matter!
