Subject: [HANASHIR:14020] "the frog song, unabridged"...(all 10 plagues)
Hey hanashir folks,
I have a version of "the frog song" that I think may have come from
someone on this list a year or two ago... this is a very long version,
because it covers all of the plagues, and because each time a new verse
is sung, there's a review of the refrains of the other verses (similar
to Chad Gadya)... but that's the kids' favorite part! I have adapted a
word here or there to make it appropriate not only for kids, but
specifically for pre-schoolers, and they LOVE it. They have a lot of
fun acting out each verse. I did notice that there's a verse about
beasts, whereas some Hagaddot say "flies" -- so the beast verse can be
changed to "flies were flying everywhere" if you like... Anyway, I
added in the actions I have the kids do, and you'll notice that there's
a little 2-line refrain for each verse -- this is where the kids do the
action. The tune of the refrain basically follows lines 1, 2, and 4 of
the original song. As we get further through the plagues, we go through
the list faster and faster, and the kids become pretty good at quickly
changing the actions!
This one is a sure hit!
Enjoy!
