[HANASHIR:13934] RE: Hava Nashira

To all HN first-timers,
As a 6-year attendee of Hava Nashira (though, unfortunately, I am unable to
attend this year AGAIN! Too many other obligations...), here are some
"necessities" I've brought along for a happy HN experience:

A good tape recorder (or other recording device) with a good microphone, plus
lots of extra batteries and blank tapes. I've typically come home from HN
with 7 or 8 90-minute tapes filled with music I taped at sessions, services,
mealtime singalongs, "beit cafe" evenings, etc. Your HN recordings will
become one of those irreplaceable resources that you'll refer to for years
afterwards -- and a wonderful way to "relive" the experience in your head
once you return home.

Bottled water. I developed a ritual whereby I'd ask the van driver to stop at
a grocery or convenience store en route to camp, so each of us in the van
could "stock up" on a gallon or two of drinking water. The tap water in
Oconomowoc is very hard (and not real palatable) -- and you will be drinking
water constantly to keep yourself hydrated and your vocal cords happy. VERY
important.

Facial tissues. The camp does not provide it in the rooms/bunks.

Other than that, it's basically camp, so dress for the weather (though you'll
be indoors most of the time, singing your little hearts out) and have a GREAT
time! Sorry I can't join you, but I'm counting on a full report to the list
when you get home!
