[HANASHIR:13931] RE: MD Recorder?

In response to a private inquiry, I sent the following recommendations:

Portable MD recorders/players
Sony MZ-N707 portable minidisc recorder (about $200 street price) 
Sony MZ-N1 is their top of the line "Walkman" portable MD recorder (about
$350 street price)

There is also the Sony MZ-N505 and MZ-E909, but I prefer the above noted
models.

Mics
Sony ECM 717 is a clip-on type one-point stereo microphone (around $60
street price) Sony ECM MS907 is a small one-point stereo microphone (around
$60 street price) Sony ECM MS057 is a more professional style one-point
stereo (about $230 street price)

The new Sony N707 looks like a nice package, and it's pretty inexpensive
(lists at $279 but will be found lots cheaper.) It's rugged, easy to connect
to a computer with USB, has anti-shock protection built in for portable
usage, etc.

Friends,

 I haven't progressed beyond a basic tape recorder, but I'm going to Hava
Nashira for the first time and want to bring back all the music I can.  Some
of you have mentioned minidisc recorders.  Given that I hate the
fastforward/rewind aggravation of tapes, is the purchase of an MD recorder
worthwhile?  Any suggestions about model, amount to spend, features to look
for/avoid?
