Dear All,

My understanding (but it may or may not be truth -- I just heard it as a story) 
is that Cantor Wohlberg (sp?) wrote that section of G'vurot for a summer camp 
to help the kids learn the text and that he was horrified that it stuck and 
became minhag ha-the country and that he was disturbed that that ditty is what 
he would be remembered for.

HI Brad,
    Actually, the "sing song-ish" M'chalkeil Chayim" section of the  
G'vurot that we hear so much all over,  was penned by Max Wolberg, so  
sometimes we continue to indulge in chazanut, even when we aren't aware  
of it.
