        In re to the Purim story and the story of Esther, you amy 
wish to read a book by Hayim Schauss on all of the Jewish Holidays, 
in which he suggests that the entire story is really an allegory.  He 
does not debunk any aspects of any of the holidays, but certainly 
presents ideas about each of the major and minor holidays in a way 
which can best be presented to high school, college-age, and adult 
education programs for discussion.
