Regarding learning instruments, I like the word "opportunity."  I feel very 
fortunate that my mom gave me the opportunity to learn the piano and to read 
music at age 6.  I never fell in love with the piano and quit lessons.  Then 
at age 11, I picked up my cousin's guitar and just started playing it.  That 
WAS love at first sight and it's stuck ever since.  But probably my earlier 
training "opportunity" helped!  

I bought my 7-year-old one of those "half-size" guitars.  He has been 
strumming it, in perfect rhythm, with no particular chords, singing Utsu 
Eytsa.  Thanks for all your advice!
