Getting involved was my point.  I started on the Music Committee.  If you are 
working and adding value to the congregation, at least in my congregation, 
they will soon ask you to be on the board.  Our board is always looking for 
good people.  This is true for the congregation I am a member of, 
Congregation Solel, and the congregation I serve as Cantorial Soloist, Or 
Chadash.
