Rosalie,
What a perfect way to introduce our young people to the deaf community. We
have used sign with music here in our Hebrew School with the blessing of our
deaf interpreter. There has been no negative feedback from our deaf
congregants. I know that my students love to sign songs.
Last summer at the WCN conference in Cleveland Judy Caplan Ginsburgh gave a
wonderful class on signing to music. Judy, I believe, had taken some signing
classes at Galludet University in DC some time ago. In attendance at the
conference was a young woman who was deaf. She and Judy did some signing of
songs together. She seemed to be very pleased to have the music put to sign.
Please let us know the results of your meeting, as we have yet to experience
a negative side to signing to music.
