Hi,
Although we are not piloting the new siddur, I did get a copy of both
the Friday evening and Sat. morning services. There are good points and bad
points so far. I personally have loved the Gates of Prayer and except for
service #6 ( You know, the one without G-d) and the gender sensitive choice,
I thought it was a great siddur. I believe they have thrown out the baby
with the bath water.
I haven't looked at it very thoroughly yet, but here goes: I like the
transliterations for ease of use and I like the choices of an accurate
Hebrew translation and a more poetic one. But, what happened to the whole
idea of gender sensitive? Also, the Gevurot starts out with "hakol" and
then has "meitim" in the second paragraph. Are we mixing metaphores here?
There is no "Al Shlosha Devarim" choice in the Torah service. That's it so
far. As I peruse I will be sure to have more comments.
Enjoy!
Marsha
